This is a lengthy talk with Ohno and Sho as they reached their 3rd anniversary, talking about their Jr. times and shooting praises to each other; published in Potato magazine October 2002.

大「翔君！もうすぐあの衝撃のハワイ事件（事件って・・）から３年。アッという間だった。」
翔「ホントだよねえ。早いよねえ」

翔「やっぱりいきなりのデビューは衝撃だったし、オレなんかデビューしていいの？って（笑）心の準備のないまま、ハワイで全貌が明らかになったんだよね。ただ、与えられたチャンスだから頑張ろうって思ったし・・」
大「そう、オレも「なんでオレ？」って（笑）９９年の「Ｐｌａｙｚｏｎｅ」の時オレの歌を周囲が認めてくれたらしいけど・・・」
翔「そうでしょ。大野君はジュニアの中で歌は断トツにうまかったもん。ジュニアのコンサートで大野君「朝日を見に行こうよ」歌ったじゃん。ただ、立って歌ってるだけで絵になる。あれは大野くんじゃないとできないだろうって、あのとき思った。」
大「ああ、あのとき・・。あれもいきなり、ソロで歌えって（笑）オレはそれまでテレビもほとんど出てないし、オレが出たとしても歓声なんてないよって。（笑）」
翔「うそ！白いカプセルみたいのが開いて大野君出てきて、カッコよかったよお。」
大「あのとき、オレの前に翔君がＭAとやったじゃん？」
翔「うん、「ｐｕｚｚｌｅ」かな？」
大「オレ、ホント、はそっちに出たかった（笑）デビュー１年前くらい、翔くんも・・・ちょっと悩んでいたよね」
翔「ああ、そうだね（笑）なんかさあ、当時はみんな、自分の進路についていろいろ考えていたよな。大野君は「ｋｙｏ　ｔｏ　ｋｙｏ」で京都にいたしさあ。そうそう、オレ、京都に行ったとき、大野君の部屋にずっといたよね。大野君の部屋だとルームサービスが頼めるからさ（笑）」
大「マジ（笑）？！」
翔「あの当時、みんな踊りを真剣にやっていたね。オレ、屋良ッチや米花と「踊りうまくなりたいね」ってよく踊ってたなあ。」
大「だね。みんな、うまくなりたいって思って頑張ってた（笑）でも、その後、東京に戻ってから、絵が好きだからそっちの道に行こうと思った時期もあったんだ・・。」
翔「マジ？初めて聞いたあ。そうだったんだあ・・」
大「あのときイラストレーターの道に進んでいたら今、どうなってるだろう。イラストだって厳しい世界だからさ。」
　　　略（大野君の絵がうまいと翔君が褒めると、大野君も翔君も勉強していて文句なしにすごいって褒めあいます。こういう２人今も変わっていないよね・・）
大「翔君さあ、今、嵐、いいよね！５人で話し合いの場も増えたし・・」
翔「そうだね。マジでミーティングできるチームはいいよ。ただ、ステージでマイクを持つ都合上、振りも簡単になったし、踊る時間も少なくなって・・。踊りの基本をもう一度やりたいなって思うけど。」
大「そうだね。オレはさ、みんな、メンバーに甘えていたし、マツジュンにもめちゃ頼っていた・・・」
翔「イヤ、最近、大野君、意識高いよ。」
大「イヤイヤ、翔君、アナタはしっかりしているよ！嵐のムードメーカーだし。もしさ、オレがリーダーとしてめちゃめちゃ厳しいタイプの人間だったら、嵐の雰囲気は変わっていたかな？」
翔「そうだね（笑）でも、大野君は大野君だから、いいの、今のままが。逆に、大野君がせかせかしてたら、どうだろ（笑）？」
大「できない（笑）絶対に」
翔「オレはさ、長男で妹や弟がいるから、しっかりせざるを得なかったというか」
大「オレは５人の意見を尊重して仲良くやっていきたい。で、翔くんはさ、どんな些細なことでも真剣に聞いてくれるし、人をバカにしない。それはすばらしいことだと思う。」
翔「もう、言うなあ～。大野君とはジュニア時代から一緒で、戦友というか・・」
大「それ、わかる。あのさ、突然、素朴な質問だけど、翔君、いつも野菜ジュースを飲んでるけど、どうして？（笑）」
翔「わあ、大野君、おもしれえ（笑）おもしれえこと聞くなあ。好きだから飲んでるだけだよお（笑）野菜ジュースうまいよ。」
大「そう・・。それと翔君、コンサートでギター弾いていてびっくり。いつの間にギター覚えたの？」
翔「おれもびっくりしたもん！あれはリハ終わりに残って練習した。でも１曲しか弾けないから、まだまだ・・」
大「あとさ、ラップの詞を書いてもらって、うれしかった。よく書けるね。ラップの詞。」
翔「ああ、コンサートでいきなり大野君がラップやったら盛り上がるだろうって作戦で書いたんだけど、あれは夏コン限定だね。」
大「よかったよ、あれはいい作戦だったと思った。オレ、最近ラップ好きだから。」

O: Sho-kun! Very soon it's gonna be 3 years since that shocking Hawaii incident. That was such a  "uh..." moment.
S: Yeah, it's so fast, right?

S: It really was such a shock to debut suddenly like that, and I went "Is it even okay if I debut like this?" XD The whole thing unveal itself in Hawaii without any mental preparation, and I thought "Well, it's a given chance, so I should stick with it..."
O: Yeah, I was also like, "Why me?" XD I think I was still in the middle of singing for 1999's stageplay "Playzone" when the news made known to me.
S: Really? But Ohno-kun, you were the best at singing since jr's times. In the Jr. concert, didn't Ohno-kun sing "Asahi wo Mi ni Ikou yo"? It's like, you become art simply by standing up and start singing. I thought at the time, only Ohno-kun can do this.
O: Ah, that time... that was also very sudden. Before it, I didn't really appear on TV that much, so I thought "even if I go on-air, no one's gonna cheer for me" XD
S: No way! When you came out of that white capsule, you were so cool.
O: At the time, you performed with MA (Music Academy) before me, right?
S: Yeah, I think it was "puzzle"?
O: I actually wanted to appear in that LOL. Around a year before debuting, Sho-kun...was kind of troubled too, right?
S: Ah, yeah. LOL You know, everyone back then considered a lot about what paths to take. And Ohno-kun also went to Kyoto for the stageplay "Kyo to Kyo". Oh right, when I went to Kyoto, I was always in your room, right? That's because I relied on your room service XD
O:  Really!? LOL
S: At that time, everyone was really serious about dancing. Yaracchi, Yonehana, and I were like, "I want to get better at dancing" and practiced a lot.
O: Right? Everyone was so hard-working to get better LOL. But, after I came back to Tokyo that time, since I love art, there was a period where I thought of taking the route of being an artist instead...
S: Really? This is the first time I heard about this. Is that so...
O: If I had become an illustrator instead, I wonder what would I be like today. After all, doing illustration is a tough world.

O: You know, Sho-kun, right now Arashi is nice, right! There are more chances for discussions with the five of us..
S: Yeah. It's great that we're a team that does well in meetings. It's like, the situations of us holding mikes or being present on stage has gotten easier to do, but there's less time for dancing... so I thought I'd wanna go through the dance basics again.
O: Yeah. I've been depending on all the members, and I also relied on MatsuJun a lot...
S: No no, but Ohno-kun your awareness is high lately.
O: No no no, Sho-kun, you're the one who's levelheaded! You're the moodmaker of Arashi. Gosh, if as the leader I was a very serious type of person, then the atmosphere of Arashi would probably change.
S: That's true XD But Ohno-kun is Ohno-kun, so it's totally fine being the way you are. Conversely, if you do things a hasty manner, what would happen? LOL
O: I definitely can't do that XD
S: You know, I have a little sister and little brother, so you can say I can't help but stay level-headed.
O: I really respect all members' opinions want to get along with everyone. And, Sho-kun, you'd listen to someone very earnestly no matter how trivial, and you won't look down on that person. I really think that's wonderful.
S: Gosh, don't say that~ I've been with Ohno-kun since the junior era after all; how should I say it... like a comrade...
O: I understand what you mean.By the way, this is a sudden, simple question, but Sho-kun, why do you always drink veggie juice?
S: Wah, Ohno-kun, you're so amusing XD Stop asking such amusing questions. I just drink it because I like it and it's tasty LOL.
O: Is that so... and then, I was surprised when you played the guitar during our concert. When did you memorize it?
S: I was also surprised! After our rehearsal, I stayed behind and practiced. But I can only play one song, so still lots to learn...
O: And and, I'm happy that you wrote the rap lyrics for our songs. You write them very well.
S: Ah, I thought of this tactic "If Ohno-kun did rap too, it'd pump things up!" and wrote the lyrics, although I think the summer concert was my limit.
O: That's great, I think that's a nice tactic, because I've grown fond of rap lately.
