Q: Where did you get "sakura daikon" from?
A: "Sakura Daikon" is the 'manzai' name that Ohno gave himself and Sho in TV Life 2012.04.28 - 2012.05.11 as a post-talk to the Arashi ni Shiyagare ep.88. 桜大根 can be read as "sakura daikon" (cherry blossom radish) or a pun of their names: 桜(sakurai) 大 (ohno) コン (combi).
Q: Where did "Yama" for Ohno & Sho come from? What other nicknames are they known as in the Japanese fandom?
A: The kanji for "Arashi" 嵐 is made up of the kanji 山 (yama; mountain) over 風 (kaze; wind). Fans use "yama" for the two oldest members of Arashi and "kaze" for the three youngest.
Other nicknames they have are...
- Team SOS: abbreviations for S (Sakurai) O (Ohno) S (Sho/Satoshi), named by themselves for D no Arashi's "Baka Koukishin" (2005/8/3 - 9/21).
- Fuufu (married couple): because the "feel" they give is like one.
- Ojisan (old men) Team: given by the other members on VS Arashi because they're the "oldest", but Yama prefers Oniisan (Big bro) Team :P
Q: Do you have any policy in using your translations?
A: Please go to RULES.
Q: How do you know the Japanese sources are credible?
A: There's no way we can verify whether their content is legit, but as long as the sources mention an origin (e.g. magazine title), we will trust it. We cross-check with multiple blogs and sources to make sure such content exist.
Q: Some entries do not have a cited source. Why is that?
A: We basically cite any transcripts that we do not have a copy version of (i.e. scan) to reference from, usually the older materials. Scan thumbnails may or may not be posted. Shorter quotes that can easily be found in multiple blogs won't have specific citations as well.
Q: Will you post download links for the scans or audio of the said source?
A: No, there will be no downloads available here.
Q: Why do you use "XD" or LOL in the translations?
A: This is in place of (笑) which literally means "smile, laugh". We thought using XD or LOL would convey the same idea.
Q: You translated something wrong.
A: We are not professional translators, so feel free to point out if there are any mistakes, or suggest a better way to translate something.
Q: Will you post non-yamapair related translations too?
A: For the most part, we will not. However, we are very partial to any references to Yama as the "parents" of Arashi, so even if an article might not be Yama-centric but has "Yama parents" implications, it will be posted.
Q: I found something yama-related! Do you take requests?
A: Sure! Feel free to send a PM tomount_deer to the source. Please be reminded that we translate on our free time, so we may not immediately get to it. We also reserve the right to reject something that we find unrelated to this community.
